Location and its
The popular etymology says that the name of Garlic comes from the great quantity of this product, that its inhabitants consumed and that it gave the town a characteristic smell. An enclave that overflows historical, landscape and cultural interest.
In August 1930 the Garlic lighthouse is inaugurated, being the newest in Cantabria. During the Civil War it stopped lighting at 10 hours and 45 minutes on August 23, 1936. La Ojerada, is a rocky area in which the sea, over millions of years, has created caves and capricious forms . Its shape, similar to two big eyes through which the sky and the sea are seen, is what has given its name to the place.
